I-11 Lawsuit

Creating a new freeway through the desert shouldn’t happen.

Friends of Ironwood Forest joined the Coalition for Sonoran Desert Protection, Tucson Audubon Society and Center for Biological Diversity to challenge the Federal Highway Administration’s approval of Interstate 11 last year.

Our coalition has filed a lawsuit in the U.S. District Court opposing the West Option through Avra Valley, which would locate this new freeway between Ironwood Forest National Monument and Saguaro National Park West (see the map at the right).
